1 gallon figs
1 tablespoon soda
½ gallon sugar
1 lemon, sliced thin

Directions:
Directions:
Wash figs. Cover with boiling water and soda. Soak for 1 hour. Rinse figs. Put sugar in pan with enough water to dissolve it. Boil 10 minutes. Add figs and lemon. Cook until perfectly preserved and syrup is thick. Fill jars and seal.
