2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 T. melted butter
1 c. canned squash
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
5 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together first 5 ingredients into a large bowl. In separate bowl, sift flour twice; on second sift, add final ingredients and combine two mixtures together. Roll out dough and cut with a donut cutter or a glass (with floured edge). Heat lard in deep fryer to 370º, carefully drop in dough and fry until edges are golden. Yummy!
