Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

MIDDLE
1/2 cup chopped nuts
2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Grease a 9 by 9 inch baking pan, and heat the oven to 350

Cream together softened butter and sugar. Add the
eggs, mix in well and add sour cream and vanilla.

In another bowl mix the dry ingredients; flour, baking
soda, and baking powder.

Add the dry ingredients to the creamed ingredients,
stirring in about 1/2 cup at a time.

In another bowl, mix the "MIDDLE" ingredients; nuts,
sugar and cinnamon.
Put half the dough in the baking pan. Sprinkle the
"MIDDLE" ingredients on top, then cover with the rest
of the dough.

Baking time is about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is
golden and pulling slightly away from the pan.

Optional: Once the cake has cooled you can sprinkle the
top with powdered sugar. We usually couldn't wait long
enough for the cake to cool and eat it without.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is Grandma Violet Muhly's recipe.
Most often made at the Silver Lake Cabin, (Fernwood).
She was from the time honored tradition of stopping
what you're doing for "coffee time", sometime around
10:00 am. This coffee time always involved a cake or
cookies.
