5 Tbsp butter
2 large baking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp dark corn syrup
1 tsp ground cinnamon
large loaf of French bread
4 eggs
11/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:
Best idea: make the day before serving so the bread can
absorb the liquid.
In a large, heavy skillet , melt butter over medium heat.
Add apple slices and cook, stirring occasionally, until
tender and little brown.
Add brown sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon to apples.
Cook, stirring, until down sugar dissolves. Pour apple
mixture into 13 by 9 inch baking pan and spread to even
layer. Arrange bread slices in on layer on top of apple
mixture.
in medium size bowl, beat eggs, milk and vanilla extract,
until well mixed; pour over bread slices. Cover with
plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
Next day, heat oven to 375 F. Remove plastic wrap from
the baking pan and bake the French toast 30-35 minutes
or until the mixture is firm and bread is golden. Cool in
pan 5 minutes. Serve the toast apple side up.
Suggested add ins: Nuts and raisins. Egg Beaters also
work well.
