½c butter
1½ c pastry flour
⅓ c white sugar
pinch salt

Filling
2c walnuts (broken up)
½c packed brown sugar
¼c white sugar
¼c butter
¼c + 2T maple syrup
2 T yogurt or cream
1 tsp of vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Beat the ingredients for the crust together well till a fine crumb is formed and press into an 8" X 8" pan lined with parchment. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 min or till golden
After the crust comes out of the oven toast the walnuts on a cookie sheet for about 5 minutes and spread on the shortbread crust
Beat the remaining ingredients (except vanilla) very well together and pour into a pot. Bring to a boil and cook while stirring till slightly thickened. (Sheets off spoon) Add vanilla at the end when done cooking and pour over walnuts. Let cool. Lift out on parchment and cut into squares.
