2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp salt
4 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 Tbls sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/4 cups milk
3/4 cup melted shortening

Stir dry ingredients together; add eggs, milk and shortening to mix-don't overmix (a few lumps are ok-if overmixed, waffles will be tough).

Bake in a wafflemaker until brown and crisp. Enjoy!

This is Grandma Overdorf's homemake waffle recipe, which Dad loves and Grandma passed down to me. The shortening is a throwback to an earlier time, but any oil should work in it's place.
