1 package dates
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup boiling water
4 Tbsps butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1⅔ cups flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Pit and cut up dates.
Add soda and boiling water. Let cool
Cream butter and sugar. Add egg.
Sift flour and salt and add to creamed mixture alternately with the dates.
Add the vanilla and nuts.

Bake in a square pan for 30 - 35 minutes
Cut into small pieces and roll in powdered sugar.
