Ingredients: Whole chicken 3 qt. chicken stock 1 clove garlic 2 bay leaves 1 tsp. salt (or to taste) ½ tsp. pepper (or to taste) 1 tbl. parsley 2 stalks celery, finely chopped 2-4 carrots (your preference), chopped 1 yellow onion, chopped

Directions:Rather than using purchased chicken broth, you can slow boil the whole chicken with the bouillion, salt, pepper, 1 stalk of celery, onion, bay leaves and garlic. When the chicken is falling off the bone, strain the broth into a bowl and debone the chicken. Put the chicken and the broth back into a pot on the stove and bring them back to a low boil. Add fresh celery, carrots and parsley at this time. While the carrots and celery are cooking prepare the dumplings. |

Ingredients: 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt Water (start with 1/2 cup, you can add up to 1 cup if necessary) 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2 tbl. butter

Directions: |
Directions:Mix dry ingredients together. Cut butter into mixture. Add enough water to make a thick dough. Knead five or six times. Roll dough out onto a lightly floured board or cloth to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into squares then drop into the boiling chicken and stock mixture. When the dumplings are floating, the Chicken and Dumplings are ready to serve and eat. |
