1/2 C sesame seeds
3/4 C butter
1 1/2 C brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/4 C AP flour
1/4 tsp baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Combine all ingredients. Using a teaspoon, place spoon size dollops of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Note: I baked for somewhat longer than 10 minutes because I prefer the cookies to be crisp. Your choice.

When we were in Charleston for the Eclipse, Tess talked about Benne Seed Wafers and we finally bought some. They were really good. Then we ate at the Boathouse Restaurant and found they had a recipe. Tess liked the homemade ones better than store bought. BY THE WAY "Benne Seed" is the Nigerian name for Sesame seeds and it has persisted in Charleston.
