1 1/4 c. warm water
5 c. flour

3/4 c. brown sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together yeast, 1 tsp sugar and warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly. Add
salt, brown sugar, oil, and 1c. Flour . Mix well. Add the remaining flour, one cup at a time.
The dough will be stiff. Knead for at least 5 minutes. Let rest and rise for 1 1/2 –2 hours
until double in size. Heat your oven to 450 degrees. Punch dough down and divide into 12
equal portions. Place portions on a greased cookie sheet and let them rest for 10 minutes.
While dough rests, place 10 cups of water and baking soda into a large pot and let it come to a
boil. Roll out dough into long thin ropes and twist into pretzel shapes. Put each pretzel into
the boiling water (one at a time) for 30 seconds. Place back onto cookie sheet and brush with egg
and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 8 minutes. You can also omit the salt and brush with butter
when they are done baking and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar! YUM!
