1 lb coffee grounds
1 ½ quarts water

2 ½ quarts water
7 cups sugar

2 ounces vanilla extract

A fifth of Everclear

Directions:
Directions:
Boil coffee and first 1½ quart water gently for about 20 minutes.
Strain to get coffee grounds out. My aunt would pour through a clean kitchen towel or old pillow case.

Simmer 2½ quarts water with 7 cups sugar for about 45 minutes.
Blend coffee mixture with sugar mixture.
Add vanilla and Everclear.
Separate into containers that can be kept cool in fridge and given to friends.

Not knowing what I was getting into, I boarded a motor home with Ed and Mary McCoy and another couple for the trip to Colorado to bury Grandma Ola's ashes at the cemetery. They drank Kahlua and beer all the way. It was a hair raising trip.
