6 large onions
1½ c seasoned bread stuffing
2 T green pepper, chopped fine
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 recipe of Basic White Sauce

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Peel and put onions in pan of boiling water. Cook until very tender - about 15 minutes. Drain well, reserving some of the liquid. Cool.

Carefully remove the centers from the onions. Place the onion "shells" in oven proof baking dish. Chop and place the centers in a large mixing bowl.

Add bread stuffing, green pepper, salt and pepper and enough of the reserved liquid to moisten the bread crumbs. Mix well.

Carefully put the stuffing in the onion shells.

Make white sauce (See Sauces and Gravies - Basic White Sauce Recipe). Pour over onions.

Bake for 20 minutes or until heated through.
