2 parts pears to 1 part sugar.

Directions:
Peel and slice pears. Mix sugar and pears together, and let set overnight. In a large pot bring to a high boil, then simmer until pears are red and clear, approximately 5 hours. Pour into sterile hot jars. Wipe off top of jar and place lid on top. Tighten bands when preserves are cool.
