1 cup seedless raisins
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
½ cup salad oil or shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1¾ cups sifted flour
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
½ tsp cloves
½ cup walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine raisins and water, bring to boiling, remove from heat and stir in salad oil. Cool to lukewarm. Stir in sugar and egg. Sift dry ingredients and beat into raisin mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 9X13-inch baking pan. Bake in a moderate oven 375º for 20 minutes or until done. When cool, cut into bars. Dust with confectioners sugar. Makes about 2 dozen.
