Brownies:
2 cups flour
½ cup butter
1 cup water
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups sugar
½ cup shortening
¼ cup dark, unsweetened cocoa
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla

Frosting:
½ cup butter
¼ cup milk
3½ cups powdered sugar
2 Tbsp dark cocoa
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Brownies: Combine flour and sugar. In a saucepan, combine butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar; stir. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla; mix well. Pour into a well buttered 17½X11-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes.

Frosting: Melt butter; add all remaining ingredients. Pour warm frosting over brownies as soon as you remove the brownies from the oven.
