1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
2 1/2 cups cake flour
1/2 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sweet milk
2 teaspoons butternut flavoring

Filling
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 stick butter
2 Tablespoons sweet milk
1 teaspoons butternut flavoring
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar for 10 minutes. Add eggs and beat slowly for 1 minute. Add 1 cup flour, beat 1 minute. Alternately add flour and milk, mixing until creamy. Add flavoring. Turn into tube pan. Bake 1 hour at 325⁰ change temperature to 350⁰ and bake 10-20 minutes. Test for doneness. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes, remove from pan.

Filling

1 pound powdered sugar
1 stick butter
2 tablespoons sweet milk or cream
1 teaspoon Butternut flavoring
1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Cool cake completely. Have ingredients at room temperature. Mix well and spread on cake.
