1 cabbage
1 lb ground beef
1 egg
1 chopped onion
1 T. shortening
1 slice bread
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Boil for 2-3 minutes the large leaves of the cabbage. Mix the meat, egg, onion, bread (soaked in water and squeezed out), salt and pepper. Fill the leaves (it may take more than one per roll), roll up and tie with a thread, lightly brown the rolls in shortening. Add a little water, cover and cook over low heat 1/2 hour. Remove rolls and discard thread before serving. Make gravy with the broth.
