1 lb fresh jalapeno peppers
1 8-oz package cream cheese, softened
2 C shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 t salt
1/4 t garlic powder
1/4 t chili powder
1/2 C plain dry bread crumbs or Panko
optional: several strips of cooked bacon, crumbled

Directions:

Preheat oven to 300º. Slice each pepper in half lengthwise; scoop out seeds and membrane. If you want them hotter, leave some membrane.

In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, salt, garlic powder, and chili powder. If using bacon, add here.

Spoon about 2 T of the cheese mixture into each pepper half. Roll the stuffed peppers in the bread crumbs.

Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake uncovered: 20 min for hot peppers, 30 min for medium or 40 min for ild flavor.
