1 1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c oleo
1 beaten egg
2 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 c buttermilk
2 c finely chopped apples

1/2 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Cream oleo and sugar. Beat in eggs. Add flour, baking soda and salt and vanilla. Mix alternately with buttermink. Fold in apples. Pour into 9 x 13 pan.
Topping; Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over batter, Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve hot or cold with whipping cream or ice cream

May subsitute rhubarb ir peaches for apples
