¼ CUP OIL
½ CUP PACKED BROWN SUGAR
1½ CUPS APPLESAUCE
1 TBSP. SALT
1 CUP HOT WATER
3 CUPS WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR
¼ TSP. SODA
1 PKG. YEAST
¼ CUP WARM WATER
3 TO 4 CUPS FLOUR

COMBINE FIRST 8 INGREDIENTS WITH IN LARGE MIXING BOWL. LET REST 10 MINUTES. DISSOLVE YEAST IN WATER. BLEND INTO FIRST MIXTURE. ADD ALL PURPOSE FLOUR ¼ CUP AT A TIME TO MAKE A MODERATELY STIFF DOUGH. TURN ONTO FLOURED SURFACE AND KNEAD FOR 10 MINUTES, ADDING MORE FLOUR AS NECESSARY. PLACE IN GREASED BOWL AND LET RISE UNTIL DOUBLED IN SIZE. PUNCH DOWN. SHAPE INTO TWO LOAVES. LET RISE UNTIL DOUBLED IN SIZE. BAKE FOR 35 TO 45 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM PAN AND BRUSH WITH BUTTER.
