1 1/2 pounds bratwurst (about 5 or 6 links)
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
2 Tbs. red wine or cider vinegar
Spicy brown mustard
cocktail rye bread

Directions:
Directions:
Combine bratwurst, ale, onion, brown sugar, and vinegar in slow cooker.
Cover; cook on LOW 4 to 5 hours
Remove bratwurst from cooking liquid. Cut into 1/2 inch thick slices.
For mini open faced sandwiches spread mustard on cocktail rye bread. Top with bratwurst slices and onions.
