1/2 # thinly sliced onions
1/4 C butter
8 C broth
1/2 C brandy
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
4-6 thick slices of French bread toasted
1 C shredded Swiss cheese

Directions:
Directions:
1. Sautee onions until golden. Add stock and simmer uncovered 30-40 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

2. Ladle into crocks. Top with toast and cheese. Bake at 425 for 15 minutes.
