1 PKG. ACTIVE DRY YEAST
1 TSP. SALT
CUP SUGAR
1 CUP MILK
3 TBSP. BUTTER OR MARGARINE
1 EGG

IN LARGE MIXING BOWL, COMBINE 1 CUP FLOUR, YEAST, SALT AND SUGAR. IN SAUCEPAN, HEAT MILK TO SCALD. ADD BUTTER TO MELT. WHEN TEMPERATURE DROPS TO 115 TO 120*, ADD TO DRY INGREDIENTS AND MIX WITH WHISK UNTIL WELL BLENDED. COVER WITH PAPER TOWEL AND LET SET FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES OR UNTIL SPONGY IN APPEARANCE. PLACE DOUGH TOPSIDE DOWN, SPIN THE BALL TO COAT WITH OIL AND TURN OVER. COVER AND LET RISE UNTIL DOUBLED. FORM INTO DESIRED ROLLS. BAKE LOAVES FOR 40 TO 50 MINUTES OR UNTIL IT SOUNDS HOLLOW WHEN TAPPED ON THE TOP. REMOVE FROM PANS AND APPLY BUTTER OR MARGARINE TO THE TOP.
