12 ounces pitted dates
1 small jar Maraschino cherries

Directions:
Boil 2½ cups sugar with 1 cup sweet milk till it forms a soft ball. Add 12 ounce pitted dates. Beat until dissolved, add 1 small jar of pitted maraschino cherries and 1 cup chopped nuts, remove from heat, beat until cool. (This will give your arms a real workout--dr.) Roll (I make mine about the same size as a rolling pin) in a towel wet (but not dripping) with cold water. (This will stain the towel. I use an old pastry towel for mine). Place in refrigerator until completely cool and set. Remove and slice as desired.
