1 qt water
1-7/8 cups sugar
6 large oranges (Valencia in summer)
1/2 cup whipping cream

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar and the test (orange-covered part of peel) of 2 of the oranges. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then drain to remove peel and set aside to cool.

Meanwhile, juice the oranges.

Mix cooled syrup with orange juice and freeze in shallow container about 2 hours or until mixture is thick and slushy and beginning to freeze around edges. Then beat whipping cream until stiff.

Transfer frozen mixture to a bowl, breaking up any chunks with a wooden spoon. With hand or electric beater, whip until light and airy. Fold whipped cream into the syrup mixture until well-combined. Return to freezer until ready to serve.
