2 c. sugar
½ c. lard
2 eggs or 4 egg yolks
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. baking soda (put in sour cream)
1 tsp. baking powder
4½ - 5 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and lard together. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Mix well Slowly add dry ingredients to form a soft dough. Cover and chill overnight, or several hours. Roll out on floured board. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters dipped in flour to prevent sticking. Bake at 350º for about 8 minutes.

These are such tasty soft sugar cookies that my kids chose to ignore the lard factor and simply devour them. Sometimes I sprinkle a little cinnamon sugar on the cookies before they go into the oven and sometimes I ice them once they are baked. It doesn't matter what I do they disappear.
