3 3/4 c all purpose flour
1 t baking soda
1 t baking powder
1 c butter
2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 1/2 c butter milk
1 c chopped pecans
1 c cut up dates
1 1/2 c orange juice
2 c sugar
2 T grated orange rind

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, baking soda and baking powder. Beat butter, add sugar and beat until fluffy. Gradually add eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Blend well. Stir in pecans and dates. Blend well, grease 9" tube pan, bake 75-80 minutes on 350º.
Topping: Combine orange juice, sugar and orange rind until sugar is dissolved. Pour on hot cake. Refrigerate overnight in refrigerator.
