4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
2 cups sunflower seeds (raw)
1 and 3/4 cups chopped nuts, mixed -- walnuts, pecans, almonds, soy nuts, etc
1 cup sesame seeds

grated rind of 1 large lemon
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup of good oil -- olive, canola, etc
3/4 tbsp cinnamon
3/4 Tbsp salt (unless the nuts are already salted )
3/4 Tbsp real Vanilla extract

8 ounces of raisins or can-raisins to add after baking.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix WELL., making sure the oil gets mixed in especially well.

Preheat oven to 275 degrees

Place granola mix in shallow layers on jelly roll pans or large broiler pans.
Bake for 30-45 minutes, or until browned. STIR OFTEN to mix flavors and brown evenly. (about every 8 minutes.)

Granola will become crispy upon cooling.
When complete cool, add 8 ounces of raisins. or cran-raisins. Stir well.

Store in air-tight containers.

Our good friend Ruth Orwick made this for Christmas gifts for a lot of years, and brought it when she came to share our holiday meals. She mainly used the oven in her apartment to store crackers and cereal, but made the exception for this wonderful snack granola.
