1 C. Sugar
⅓ C. Cocoa
⅓ C. Melted Butter
2 Eggs
¼ tsp. Salt
¾ C. Flour
½ tsp. Baking Powder
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 C. Chopped Nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, cocoa, and melted butter, mix well.
2. Stir in eggs.
3. Sift flour, salt, baking powder and add dry ingredients to wet mixture.
4. Add vanilla. Beat until smooth.
5. Fold in nuts.
6. Spread batter in a greased 8"x8" or double ingredients to make a 13"x9" pan.
7. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 25 minutes.
8. Cut when cooled

These were Michele's favorite treat as a child. She used this recipe for her First Grade class cookbook and always took these for her birthday treat to school. These are more cake like than gooey.
