About 6 med. potatoes, sliced (or about 4 cups frozen hash browns)
3 tbsp butter or margarine
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
2 cups milk
¼ cup sour cream
¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese (I use morez0
1 med. yellow onion, chopped
smoked ham, chopped or sliced (we always made it with leftover ham so no quantity)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Melt butter over low heat. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is sooth and bubbly; remove from heat.
Stir in milk, sour cream, and cheese. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute.
Grease a 2 quart casserole.
Layer potatoes, ham and onions, and white sauce. Repeat until you've used up all the ingredients, end with white sauce on top.
Cover and bake 30 min. Then uncover and bake until done, about 60-70 min.
