2 c. milk
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
6 c. dry bread cubes (8 slices bread)
1/2 c. raisins or dried tart cherries, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Heat milk and butter over medium heat until butter melts and milk is hot. Mix eggs, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in 1 1/2 quart dish. Stir in bread cubes and raisins. Stir in milk mixture. Place dish in pan on oven rack. Pour very hot water in pan 1 inch deep. Bake uncovered 40-45 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean. Serve warm.
