1 c. oleo
2 eggs
2 c. brown sugar packed
½ c. buttermilk (or sour milk)
3½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1½ c. broken nuts
2 c. candied cherries or mixed fruits
2 c. dates, cut up

Directions:
Directions:
Mix well, oleo, sugar and eggs.
Stir in buttermilk.
Sift dry ingredients together and stir in.
Mix in nuts, fruit, and dates.
Chill in refrigerator at least 1 hour.
Drop rounded teaspoon full about 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 400º for 8-10 or until almost no finger print remains when touched lightly with finger.
