1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
2/3 cup milk

(omit baking powder and salt if using self rising flour)
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, salt and sugar. Add eggs unbeaten, blend well, beat until smooth. Alternate flour and milk sifting baking powder on last bit of flour. Add vanilla - Bake in well greased and floured pans 20 minutes at 400º.

20 minutes long enough in big square pan.
