4 lb spareribs
1/2 c finely chopped onion
1 c water
1 c ketchup
2 tbsp. vinegar
2 tbsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
2 (16 oz) cans sauerkraut
8 small potatoes pared
3/4 c water

Directions:
Cut spareribs in serving-size pieces. Brown spareribs slowly in a skillet and put into a baking pan. Discard all but about 2 tbsp. of the fat from the skillet. Reheat fat in the skillet. Add onion and cook until brown. Add next nine ingredients and simmer covered 20 min. Pour sauce over ribs. Bake spareribs covered in 350ºF oven for 1 1/2 hours. During last half hour cook sauerkraut and potatoes in the 3/4 c water in a saucepan until vegetables are tender. To serve arrange drained sauerkraut, spareribs and potatoes on a heated platter. Spoon sauce over top of spareribs and potatoes.
