2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup shortening
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
4 cups flour
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar and shortening. add eggs, mix well, Add baking powder, baking soda and vanilla.mix. add flour and milk alternating, mix until smooth and creamy.

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheet. Sprinkle with additional white sugar. (or colored sugar)

Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes.

Makes about six dozen.

*variation - add chocolate chips and eliminate sugar sprinkled on top.
