1 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 c sorghum
1 c sweet milk
3 c flour
3 eggs
1/4 tsp allspice
2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cinniamon
1 tsp soda

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening & sugar until very smooth, add 1 egg at a time. Add sorghum, soda. Sift spices with flour & add alternately with milk. Set in ice box and let set. Dip and bake as needed. Will keep along time. Bake in moderate oven, about 350º umtil done. Use cake flour for a firmer cake.

SAUCE:
½ pound of butter
1 c sugar
1 egg, well beaten
Cook until thick in double boiler.
Top with whip cream
