1/2 c. water
1-1/2 quart fresh strawberries (2 c. per pie)
1 c. sugar
3 T. cornstarch
1 - 9" pie shell, baked and cooled
1 c. heavy cream, whipped and sweetened

Directions:
Directions:
Baked and cool 9" pie shell according to directions.
Wash and hull berries.
Select and set aside the largest and most perfect berries.
Mash the remaining berries. Place berries in a saucepan along with the sugar mixed with the cornstarch and 1/2 c. water. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, approximately 5 to 6 minutes or until mixture is clear and thick. Remove from heat; set aside to cool completely.
Arrange the reserved whole berries in the bottom of the baked and cooled pie shell.
Carefully spoon mashed berry mixture over the top of the whole berries.
Refrigerate until time to serve - at least 2 hours.
Just before serving, garnish pie with sweetened whipped cream and several whole strawberries.
