2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
½ cup chopped cucumber
½ fresh or frozen banana
1 packed cup chopped kale leaves
½ inch ginger, peeled
1 apple, unpeeled, cut into chunks
Seltzer or tap water as needed

Directions:
Directions:
Put the ingredients into a blender in the order listed with ½ cup of the ice and reserving the seltzer.
Puree until smooth, stopping to push the ingredients toward the blade; once the machine gets moving, stop once or twice more to scrape down the sides. Adjust the texture with more ice or a little seltzer. Serve immediately.
More Ideas:
In place of the banana, try pear or honeydew melon (1 cup chopped fruit).
Spinach, watercress, or arugula can also be substituted for the hale.
Increase the cucumber to 1¼ cups and skip the apple.
