1/2 c. butter softened
3/4 c. white sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. almond extract.
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. candied cherries chopped
1/2 c. mini semisweet chocolate morsels.
1/2 white chocolate ( optional)
Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º grease a large cookie sheet.
In bowl cream together the butter, sugar, until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the almond extract.
Combine the flour and baking powder, stir into the cream mixture until just blended. Mix in cherries and chocolate morsels.
with lightly floured hands roll dough into two 10" logs place on prepared cookie sheet about 5" apart flatten each log to about 3" width. Bake about 25 to 30 min or until set and a light golden brown.
cool 10 minutes. with a serrated knife, cut loaves diagonally into 1/2 inch slices arrange slices cut side down on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 min or until bottoms begin to brown turn and bake for 5 min more. or until brown and crisp.

optional- drizzle with white chocolate or cover bottoms with brown or white chocolate.
cover in air tight container.
