3 pounds of ground beef or venison
1 large chopped onion
3 stalks of celery chopped
1 large can light red kidney beans drained and rinsed
6 - 14 1/2 ounce cans diced garlic & oregano tomatoes
3 cans whole kernel corn drained
2 1/2 cups mild picante sauce
1 large can tomato juice
3 tablespoons chili powder

In a large soup kettle brown meat with onion & celery over medium heat. Drain grease. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on medium low heat 30 minutes or longer stirring periodically. Serve with shredded cheese, sour cream & corn chips.

For a spicier version add more chili powder or replace mild picante sauce with medium or hot. This recipe makes 10 - 12 quarts. We freeze several containers to have throughout the winter.
