4 (19 oz) cans peach halves in heavy syrup
2 (14 oz) cans red sour pitted cherries
2 c brandy or cognac
1/2 c Amaretto or 1 tsp almond flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Drain peaches and reserve juice. Drain cherries and discard juice. Pack cherries in an attractive jar. Blend peach juice with remaining ingredients. Pour over fruit. Gently press fruit down into jars. there should be at least 1" of liquid about fruit. Seal tightly. Refrigerate for at least a week before serving so flavors have a chance to develop. Serve as a compote or over ice cream.
