1/2 lb. red candied cherries
1/2 c. grape juice
1/2 lb. red candied cherries
1/2 lb. green candied cherries
1 lb. candied pineapple
1/4 lb. mixed candied fruit
1 lb. golden raisins
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
5 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. mace
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. almond flavor
1/2 c. flour
1/4 lb. walnuts or pecans
1/4 lb. slivered almonds

Directions:

Soak fruit overnight in 1/2 cup grape juice. Set aside.
Cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift together flour, soda, and spices. Add flour mixture alternately with milk and almond flavor.
Stir 1/2 flour into fruit mixture. Add nuts. Pour batter over fruit-nut mixture; mix well. Bake in greased and floured large tube pan. Bake 2 to 2 1/2 hours at 275º or until done.


(3 tsp. apple pie spice may be substituted for the mace and cinnamon.)
