3 to 4 lb spareribs
1 onion peeled and quartered
2 tsp salt
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c ketchup
1/2 c barbecue sauce (hickory flavor)
1/2 c water
1 tsp dry mustard
1 1/2 tsp vinegar
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 onion chopped
1/2 to 1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Place ribs, quartered onion and 2 tsp salt in kettle or dutch oven. Fill with water (approximately 3 quarts). Bring to boil and reduce heat. Simmer covered one hour or until tender. Meanwhile mix all ingredients for sauce. Simmer uncovered for one hour stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning to taste. When ribs are cooked drain and place on rack in broiler pan. Brush with sauce. Broil on top rack of oven for five minutes on each side or until brown.
