2 c. sugar
1 c. milk, canned milk, or cream
1/2 cube butter
pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Melt 1/2 c. sugar in heavy pan. Add cream and butter when dissolved, then add the 1 1/2 c. sugar, salt and vanilla. Cook until soft ball stage. Stir or whip until creamy.

This was dad's favorite icing. Mom would make a spice cake and then make this icing to put on the cake.
