4 or 5 apples
2 centre slices of ham 1/4" thick
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Pare apples, core and slice in rings. Trim part of the fat from ham and cut ham into serving size pieces. Place a layer of ham in the bottom of a baking dish and cover with apple rings and sprinkle lightly with brown sugar using 1 to 2 tbsp. for each layer. Repeat until all ingredients are used. Arrange the top layer so that both ham and apple show. Sprinkle lemon juice over top. Cover and let bake in moderate oven at 325ºF for about 25 min or until apple slices are tender. Remove cover from the baking dish and bake 20 to 25 min longer to brown the apples slightly and thicken the juice.
