3/4 c shortening
1/2 c molasses
1/2 c milk
1 c sugar
1 egg
4 c sifted flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Heat shortening & molasses until shortening is melted.
Add milk, beat well & let cool.
Blend egg & sugar with molasses mixture.
Stir in dry ingredients.
Cover & chill for 1 hour.
Roll to 1/3" thickness & use cookie cutters.
Bake 375º for 12 minutes

Let cool decorate as desired
