4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
2 bars German Chocolate, melted and cooled
1 cup butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 t. vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Melt chocolate and cool to room temperature.
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs and blend well.
Add vanilla and buttermilk and continue blending.
Add sifted flour, soda and salt and blend well.
Add chococlate and blend well.
Pour into well greased and floured and tube or bundt pan.
Bake at 350º for one hour.
Cool in pan for 15 minutes.
Carefully turn cake out on to cake platter.
Cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

I tried my best to write this down from Mamaw's handwritten recipe card so I hope it's correct. Dave always looked forward to this very rich cake at Christmas but she has a notation on the card, "Steve's birthday cake."
