1½ cup shortening
2 cups sugar
6 eggs, well beaten
4 cup flour
½ cup molasses
½ cup perked coffee
¼ cup grape juice
1 teaspoon cloves
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 jar (1 pound) mixed fruit
¾ box raisins
1 box (1 pound) Dates
½ pound candied cherries
nuts of choice, pecans are best
1 cup First anniversary port wine (use any good port wine)

Mix the beaten eggs, melted shortening, sugar, flour, molasses, coffee, grape juice, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Next, cut up mixed fruit, raisins, dates, cherries and nuts.. Mix all together. Grease a tube pan. Line with wax paper. Grease wax paper. Pour batter in pan and bake at 275 degrees or lower for 3½ hours. Let cool overnight. Put on a plate on foil and white cloth. Spoon a cup of port wine all over cake until empty. After soaking, wrap in cloth. Put in a cool dry place for one month before eating.
