large bowl of unsalted, unflavored popped popping corn
butter-optional
Vanilla-optional
Food coloring-optional

Directions:

Melt marshmallows as you would for rice krispies treats.
Add optionals if desired
Pour melted marshmallows over popcorn and form into balls

Grandma Mary Tilby made these and taught me how. She also made popcorn cakes that she used the marshmallow/popcorn mixture and poured it into an Angel Food cake pan and packed it in tightly. Sometimes she added colored gum drops into the popcorn. Green and red for Christmas or orange for Halloween, pink for Valentines Day--you get the idea.
