"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Ingredients:
1 pound fresh cranberries
1 orange
2 apples
sugar to taste, start with 1/2 cup

variation - small box red jello
and 1 cup boiling water

Directions:
This recipe does not need exact measurements. Use amounts of fruit that taste good to you!
Wash fruit. You do not need to peel the orange or apples, tho you may remove some peeling if you like. Cut and core apples and remove orange seeds. If you have an old fashioned meat grinder, run the fruit thru it with the larger blade. Otherwise a food processor works fine too! Stir well and add enough sugar to sweeten to your taste. At this point you can chill it and serve just like this. OR you can mix the jello and boiling water and stir it into the fruit and sugar. Chill it til the jello sets and enjoy that way! Lydia used to make it both ways! Always disappears!
